When I stop and think about what point I’ve reached in my life, I believe that I wouldn’t be where I am today without the undying support of my family, and I realize how much of a journey I still have ahead of me. Fashion has always been a part of me. Foiled attempts at making my own clothes in high school convinced me that I had to pursue it as a career, and learn how to really make the clothes in my mind become a reality, down to the very last stitch. I currently work two jobs in fashion (for Mexx and Black Sheep Betty) and in the new year I will be heading to New York City to do an internship with Betsey Johnson. As you might have guessed, I like to keep myself busy. I get all pumped up when I’ve got tons on my plate, and I get a real sense of accomplishment when I finish what I had in mind. The best time for me to be in my creative mode is actually when I’m completely wiped out! I love waking up at 2am looking for a pen and anything I can scribble my ideas on. That is one thing that I believe is important to do in the moment. A quality that you will notice in my creations is the workmanship. I strongly believe quality is important as well as the fit. I’ve said it a million times before, but its my conviction that fit is the single most important element of a garment. It makes the figure the absolute best it can be, deemphasizing what you don’t like, and playing up your best features. When women wear my designs, I want them to feel free, flirty, cute and feminine. The main idea is being comfortable with who you are and letting your true self shine through. |
